Jean-Michel Jarre
Music for Supermarkets (1983)
Jul 6 1983, 10pm: Only existing copy of "Music for Supermarkets" LP is auctioned off at Hotel Drouot in Paris for 10,000 UK pounds. Master tapes are destroyed after the project is broadcast on Radio Luxembourg. Jean-Michel Jarre made this album expressly to voice his distaste and disregard for the music business. Much of the music was re-worked and incorporated in later releases, as noted. The tracks presented here were recorded from the radio broadcast, therefore the sound quality is quite poor.
